I heard the children laughing and making fun
Of the little girl who stood there that day
Pushed aside because of her place in life.
Then I heard the little girl say,
“Our house may not be a mansion as you have.
Its furnishings may be kind of bare.
But our house is a home
And, oh, the love that is there.
Some may live in mansions
That are large and tall.
But, its really not a home
For there’s no love there at all.
I’d rather live in a shack
That the world thinks nothing of
Than to live in a great big house
Where there is no love.
Yes, our house may not be fancy
And rich clothes I’ve never known.
But I am blessed and so very rich
Because our house is a home.”
Yes, your house may not be fancy
And the world’s riches you’ve not known.
But you are blessed and very rich
If your house is a home.
